Deliver patient breakfast trays and provide companionship to patients in the peaceful environment of our inpatient facility in South Kansas City.
Volunteers are needed for Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday mornings for a shift which begins at 7:45am and usually ends by 9:00am.
Our chef prepares meals and places them on trays inside a rolling food-service cart. Volunteers deliver trays to patients who are eating and get the patients set up to begin eating. You may wish to do a few other things--check vases of flowers, tidy family areas, etc.--before checking to see how patients are doing. Finally, you'll return trays to the kitchen and break them down before leaving.
This can be a very rewarding activity, providing meaningful interaction with patients and families.

Description
Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care is a nonprofit organization offering a range of services for people of all ages and at any stage of serious illness. We've been providing comfort and care to the seriously ill and their families in the greater Kansas City area since 1980.
By providing both hospice and palliative care, we are able to assist patients and their loved ones at any time following a serious diagnosis. Hospice is provided when the focus is primarily on comfort; palliative care is provided when it is too early for hospice care and the patient may be seeking treatment aimed at cure.
