ORGANIZATION: Civil Air Patrol - Floyd Bennett Composite Squadron

Our squadron is looking for someone to be the Public Affairs Officer. Duties would require the candidate to possess above average writing skills, preferably experience in writing articles for the media. Photography and web design/development skills are also a big plus. The job is to promote our organization and our unit to members of the community, liaison with local politicians and military units, attend all major CAP events in the area, maintain the squadron newsletter and website and develop new public affairs programs.

No special experience is necessary, but desire to do a great job at this is.

We have a training program, but most of it is self-run, so the position requires one to be self-motivated.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Civil Air Patrol ( USAF Auxiliary ) is to provide citizens with a way to contribute their efforts, services and talents to the public welfare, the development of youth and education of the importance of aerospace. New York City Group HQ currently provides support and training for six squadrons located in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Floyd Bennett Composite Squadron is responsible for carrying out all three major missions of CAP and is located at a historic aviation site, Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn. Description

Civil Air Patrol is chartered with three missions: Cadet Programs, Emergency Services and Aerospace Education. Comprised of civilian volunteers--youth and adults, CAP is a community service organization dedicated to serving on local, state and national levels.
