Non-profits have limited sources of income, and fund raising becomes a very important facet of the organization. It is also a great way for volunteers to make friends and enjoy the festivities.
We have a few annual major fund raisers:
On August 20 we will have our 4th annual poker run, "Wheelin' and Dealin' for PAWS". It is a very exciting event for motorcycle and auto drivers, gathering a new card at each stop, trying for the winning poker hand. The ride starts and ends at Quaker Steak and Lube in Valley View. It is also a lot of fun for the volunteers.
In November, we will have our 4th annual Reverse Raffle/Silent Auction dinner. It is held in a lovely party center and features great food and a multitude of amazing items in our silent auction. We generally attract local celebrities and have a great M.C.
Next year on the 3rd Sat. of May, we will have our 9th Adopt-a-thon/Fund raiser "PAWS 4 A CAUSE: Find Your Forever Friend". It is held in the Cleveland Metropark Polo Field in Moreland Hills. We have about 25 area rescues attending along with merchandise and food vendors. We offer a 1 and 2 mile dog walk, Big Ticket Raffle, K-9 Demonstration, and a wonderful parade of all the adoptables.

Mission Statement
Since 1976 PAWS Ohio has filled a vacuum with our foster based mission to rescue stray and abused animals in Northeast Ohio. PAWS Ohio brings these needy animals into private foster homes providing them with medical care and a safe environment . Once healthy and altered our foster pets are placed up for adoption and placed into their forever home.
Description
The Public Animal Welfare Society, Inc. (PAWS) was founded in 1976. We are a 501(3)(c) non-profit, no-kill organization considered to be one of Ohio’s most reputable long-standing cat and dog humane rescue groups. Our mission is to rescue, foster, and adopt companion animals in Northeastern Ohio.
Additionally, we provide medical treatment for injured or sick animals we take in as well as spaying and neutering services. We are also deeply involved in Animal Welfare Legislation and our Executive Director, Amy Beichler, was the driving force behind the passage of Goddard's Law in 2016 which made it a felony to abuse companion animals in Ohio.
We are a volunteer based organization governed by a Board of Volunteer Directors. PAWS is managed by an Executive Director and an Associate Director who control the day-to-day operations. Under the Executive Director, we have volunteer coordinators that manage a number of specific departments within PAWS, as well as a host of dedicated volunteers who give their time and efforts to PAWS-related tasks and events.
