Sites are assigned and surveys must be done in southeast Michigan

Volunteers in the Rouge River watershed are needed to survey their neighborhood for frogs and toads. Surveys are done independently on warm damp spring and summer evenings and involve listening for calls.

Interested volunteers attend two sessions.
1. Introduction to Rouge wetlands, frogs and toads and their calls. Sat. Feb. 20 10-11am

Volunteers are assigned a survey block that they visit several times a month after dark and track which species are calling.

To restore, protect, and enhance the Rouge River watershed through stewardship, education, and collaboration.

Description

Friends of the Rouge is an environmental non-profit organization that has been promoting stewardship of the Rouge River watershed for over 15 years. We run a large environmental education program for schools within the Rouge watershed. We also coordinate a variety of projects for volunteers, adult and youth, individuals and groups. These activities include monitoring environmental quality, neighborhood-based environmental education and pollution prevention, stream cleanups and many other environmental restoration/preservation activities.
