The Stamford Historical Society is a 100 year old organization that has been one of the best kept secrets in Stamford, CT. As we enter our second century, it's time to change that. We need help from someone who is familiar with getting the word out to the right people in the right places about our programs and services. Among the events the Society presents each year are two exhibits which deal with Stamford's history or participation in historic events. The exhibits draw from our own collections and are curated by volunteers as well as staff. We host an annual Victorian Tea and one gala event. Our ongoing offerings are a research library and a photo collection each containing over 10,000 items dealing with Stamford's history. The Society also owns and opens for tours, the oldest building in Stamford, the Hoyt Barnum House which was built in 1699. Our volunteer maintained website are part of our community outreach. Once the PR Manager has visited our offices, toured our building, met with our Executive Director, Board members and key volunteers, this position can become a virtual position if that is the way the Manager feels it is best. It can be a position that needs only occasional visits to our offices.
