ORGANIZATION: RSVP of Southeast Texas

One of the first nature education facilities for children in the state of Texas, this nature center is a 155 acre non-profit sanctuary located near Memorial Park.

Volunteers Opportunities include:

  • Being a School Tour Guide
  • Assisting the public in explaining what is in the Discovery Room
  • Assisting staff in maintaining a 5 mile trail system
  • Helping staff to maintain plant beds that demonstrate planting for wildlife.
  • Assisting with the care and maintaince of the aquariums and live animals in the Discovery Room.

RSVP's mission is to provide opportunities for individuals ages 55 and above, to engage in service that addresses the nation's educational, public safety, environmental, and other human needs to achieve direct and demonstrable results and to encourage all seniors to engage in such service. In doing so, RSVP will foster civic responsibility, strengthen the ties that bind us together as a people, and provide educational opportunity for those who make a substantial commitment to service.


RSVP is a gateway for volunteerism in the community. RSVP provides many free benefits including free volunteer insurance, learning opportunities, and volunteer recognition.
