Mission Statement
The Buddy-to-Buddy Volunteer Veteran Program provides peer support, and connections to viable resources to assist service members, veterans and military families with any needs.
Description
The Buddy-to-Buddy Volunteer Veteran Program is seeking Veterans to help military service members and veterans find financial, educational, health care and counseling resources. Become a resource to other veterans anywhere in the State of Michigan.
Sometimes veterans do not seek care because of the stigma associated with asking for help. Buddy-to-Buddy pairs trained veterans with military service members and current veterans to help identify resources they may need when adjusting to life outside the military community.
No one can be a better source of support than a veteran who has been there. If you have a passion for helping fellow veterans, are a good communicator, and are willing to donate your time to an amazing cause, the Buddy-to-Buddy program is looking for you.
We will provide training in communication skills and available community resources in Michigan. The time commitment is a minimum of about 1-2 hours per week. Responsibilities include telephone support to military service members and veterans, weekly call-in meetings and presence at military events. Mileage and expenses are reimbursed.
Visit www.buddytobuddy.org to learn more about the Buddy-to-Buddy Program, or contact the Outreach Coordinator at buddytobuddyVVP@umich.edu to schedule an interview.
We have volunteers located all over Michigan.
