THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO VOLUNTER THIS TAX SEASON!
Join other Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers who provide free tax help for families with low to moderate incomes. You can help secure financial stability in our community by greeting clients, preparing tax returns, or assisting taxpayers in self-filing their returns on MyFreeTaxes.com (MFT)!
How do the VITA and MFT programs help our community?
In 2016, VITA and MFT volunteers helped 3,800 families in our community save over $400,000 in return preparation fees. The total impact of these programs was $5.9 million!
As a VITA or MFT Volunteer, YOU can be part of that impact. Learn a new skill, build your resume, and support your community! Serve as a greeter, tax assistant, or tax preparer.
Reasons to become a VITA volunteer:
- NO prior experience is necessary!
- FREE guided training and certification through the IRS is provided by United Way.
- Flexible schedule, giving 1 to 5 hours per week during tax season (January- April).
- Continuing Education credits available for Tax Professionals.
