Loving Canines Needed

ORGANIZATION: Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey

If you own a certified pet therapy dog, you and your dog can bring joy and comfort to senior citizens through Caregiver Canines, a wonderful new program in Ocean County offered through the non-profit agency Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (CVCJ). Please consider volunteering your pet to help. Everyone will benefit.
You and your dog will be matched with a senior citizen to make friendly home visits at times that are convenient for you. These visits will bring great joy and a well-documented role in reducing stress, improving the health and self-esteem of seniors and most importantly helping the elderly cope with loss and loneliness.

About Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey

Location:

201 Hooper Avenue, First Floor, North Suite, Toms River, NJ 08753, US

Mission Statement

Caregiver Volunteers is on a mission to connect homebound seniors to caring and compassionate volunteers who will provide a variety of services from medical transportation to friendly visiting. Our program allows seniors to stay at home while we work to reduce senior social isolation within Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Description

Our programs are socialization-based which means that we do not provide medical assistance or care, but our programs work to reduce senior social isolation and bring care and compassion into the lives of homebound seniors. Our services include, but are not limited to, reassuring phone calls, medical transportation, grocery shopping, help with fundraisers, respite care for those with chronic illnesses and their caregivers, Alzheimer's respite care for those living with dementia or Alzheimer's and their caregivers, help with paperwork and more! We help a large number of Latino/a/x senior citizens and are always in need of bilingual volunteers. These vital services are provided by our growing number of volunteers in Monmouth and Ocean County, New Jersey.
