Volunteering Matters
It's true: you can help another person! Join us today!

What You Can Do: We could use volunteers to facilitate an on-going "Art Expression Group". This group encourages The Boulevard residents to create and express their ideas or emotions. Residents are encouraged to share their art at the end of the session, with possible discussion. The ideal volunteer for this group is an experienced art teacher or social worker interested in committing to a regular weekly class. What's needed is a friendly & encouraging personality; a patient, flexible and encouraging approach toward members of the group; and the ability to choose a date and follow through.

You would get to plan the projects and bring the supplies. We have a very limited number of art supplies onsite, but we can provide a tax exemption letter if you want to purchase and donate supplies.

What We Do: The Boulevard serves over 300 homeless adults annually, helping them recover from physical injury, illness, addiction or mental health issues. After they recover, we assist Residents in finding safe housing and an income if possible: our goal is to help every client leave the homeless experience, hopefully forever.

About The Boulevard: The Road to Health and Home

3456 West Franklin Boulevard, Chicago, IL 60624, US

Mission Statement

The Boulevard: The Road to Health and Home provides a healing environment and resources to help ill and injured homeless adults restore their health, rebuild their lives and regain self sufficiency. The Boulevard is the only agency of its kind in state of Illinois, and one of only a small handful nationwide. Visit our website! http://www.blvd.org/

The Boulevard is a medical respite program designed specifically to address the challenges faced by homeless adults discharged from hospitalization with no place to go to recuperate. We aid these individuals in completing their medical recovery or stabilization, begin to address the root causes of their homelessness, and find stable housing. With a capacity of 64 beds (15 women, 49 men), and a usual length of stay of 90 to 120 days, we were able to assist 334 individuals in rebuilding their lives in our last fiscal year.
