ORGANIZATION: The Boulevard: The Road to Health and Home

Boulevard Logo
The Boulevard:The Road to Health and Home, was founded in 1994 and was originally called Interfaith House. Since then, it has provided a temporary home to over 8,000 Chicago women and men as they have regained their health and overcome homelessness.

What You Can Do: Volunteers needed to lead Arts and Crafts projects and encourage self-expression and empowerment. This group encourages residents to create and express their ideas or emotions through art making.
Residents are encouraged to share their art at the end of each session. All skill-levels are welcome! What's important is providing a friendly & encouraging environment to create art.

You would get to plan the projects and bring the supplies. We are currently researching free supplies throughout the community.

What We Do: The Boulevard serves over 500 homeless adults annually, helping them recover from physical injury, illness, addiction or mental health issues. After they recover, we assist Residents in finding safe housing and an income if possible: our goal is to help every client leave the homeless experience, hopefully forever.

Mission Statement

The Boulevard: The Road to Health and Home provides a healing environment and housing support services to help ill and injured adults experiencing homelessness restore their health, rebuild their lives and regain self-sufficiency. The Boulevard is a leader in medical respite care, and one of only a handful nationwide. Visit our website! http://www.blvd.org/

Description

The Boulevard is a medical respite program designed specifically to address the challenges faced by homeless adults often discharged from hospitals with no place to recuperate. We aid these individuals in completing their medical recovery and stabilization, begin to address the root causes of their homelessness, and find stable housing.
