ArtWorks for Milwaukee is actively growing and increasing its impact on our city’s youth. ArtWorks offers paid, arts-based internships to engage teens in reaching their potential by developing durable skills such as professionalism, collaboration, creativity, leadership and problem solving, which are critical in today’s workplace.

This year, ArtWorks is celebrating 20 years of providing teens with employment. As the organization expands its internship programs to engage more youth, we're seeking leaders in the community to join our Board of Directors. We are looking for community leaders with expertise and networks specifically in the arts, youth development, fundraising/networking, and marketing/public relations.

Board Directors serve two-year terms and demonstrate a passion for ArtWorks’ mission: preparing youth for tomorrow by providing transferable career skills through art internships today.

ArtWorks has each Board Director complete a "Give, Get, Do" commitment, which is described below.

  1. "Give" - We ask that each Board Director include ArtWorks as one of his/her top 3 charitable donations in a given year. There is no expectation of a specific donation amount or quota. However, ArtWorks would prefer to have a 100% giving Board and encourages each director to make a significant financial contribution based on their capacity.
  2. "Get" - We ask that each Board Director actively advocate for ArtWorks and participate in fundraising activities. That could include reaching out to an employer, colleagues, or individuals in their network for monetary and/or in-kind donations.
  3. "Do" - In addition to attending monthly board meetings, we ask each Board Director to actively participate or chair a board committee, work on a project,or volunteer in some capacity during their time on the board.

If you are interested in finding out more about ArtWorks and becoming part of a working Board that can help shape the future of a small organization and impact the lives of high school students, we invite you to contact ArtWorks Executive Director, Terry Murphy by email at director@artworksformilwaukee.org or by phone at 414-708-9996.
