Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)

"There is a need to elevate the awareness in the community to the plight of abused or neglected children, to encourage more citizens of the county to volunteer as CASAs and to support, train and guide new CASAs as they enter the program. The goal is that every child that enters the juvenile dependency system as the result of abuse or neglect have a trained CASA to advocate for the child’s best interest." -The Honorable Martin E Stone, Coos County Circuit Court Judge

Volunteers needed to fill a very special role in helping neglected or abused children in the court system. Feel great knowing that you are helping to improve the life of a child in your community!

Description

Oregon Coast Community Action (ORCCA) is a nonprofit network of programs that feed, house, warm and educate people. Our joint administration provides a cost effective way to manage and develop programs to meet the needs of the communities we serve. We strive to provide families with help up and out of poverty, not just a hand out. Among ORCCA's programs are South Coast Head Start, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate helping children in state custody though the legal process), Housing & Emergency Services, Energy Assistance and Great Afternoons (GA provides year-round classes, clubs and activities for all ages). ORCCA covers Coos & Curry Counties and Western Douglas County.
