Rings and Poles

This is an active, fun, and extremely rewarding volunteer experience! Help care for the amazing therapy horses at The Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program, and work with riders with disabilites, recovering military service personal and youth at risk!

The time commitment varies by day, but is usually 3-4 hours. We ask that you commit to one day each week, however, we can work with most schedules.

Volunteers assist with horse-back riding lessons as sidewalkers (walking beside the rider to help them during the lesson), horse leaders (horse leaders must have sufficient horse handling skills) and also help with feeding, grooming and stall cleaning. Horse experience is not required for most positions.

Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program provides equine assisted activities for children and adults with disabilities, youth-at-risk, veterans, and their families in an inclusive, community setting.
