VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Donation Coordinator

Overview: Campaign for Hostelling International for the Florida Council.

Key Responsibilities:

Increase awareness of the general public regarding travel opportunities and hostelling

Solicit donations from different corporations

Solicit donations from highly placed individuals

Publicize about Hostelling International

Administer and discover how we can bring Contributions to HI Fl Council.

Initial Impact:

Help HI-USA and HI-Florida increase awareness among general public

Obtain additional funding for expansion of hostelling awareness and knowledge throughout Florida

Provide opportunities for general public to learn about travel & culture

Sustainable Outcome:

Additional funding through donations for expansion of Florida Council and HI-USA programs throughout Florida

Bequests from Senior HI members, i.e. remembrances in wills

Awareness of low-cost travel opportunities through HI

Increased membership in HI

Increased use of hostelling in Florida and worldwide

Training and Support:

HI-USA Volunteer Manual

Hi-Florida board members

HI-Florida members (for volunteering)

Time Commitment:

Two hours initial training - review of Florida training materials, coordination with Board liaison

Contact with different organizations estimated at 1 hours per month.

Coordination with Florida Board estimated at 30 minutes per month

Benefits:

Leadership development and marketing skills practiced.

Gain experience in grassroots organizing and nonprofit use of volunteers

Rsum-building experience with letter of reference upon completion.

HI-USA brings together community members to share the importance of travel and hostelling by hosting travel talks, travel classes and other fun events.

HI-USA volunteers will be vital contributors to the future of hostelling by providing innovative ideas, resources, and serving as hostelling ambassadors in their local communities."
