The Lake Metroparks Environmental Learning Center is a state-of-the-art science and educational facility that connects people with nature. It features educational exhibits, fully equipped high-tech classrooms, an astronomical observatory, a biology/ biotechnology lab and a weather station.Swale Gardening.

Lake Metroparks Farmpark provides a connection to our agricultural roots, helping people understand where our food and clothing come from. We have crop,hygoponic and ornamental gardening.

Penitentiary Glen Reservation features forest, fields, wetlands and 8.5 miles of hiking trails and has been designated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife as a "Watchable Wildlife" site and Butterfly Gardens.

The mission of Lake Metroparks is to converse and preserve the natural resources of Lake County while providing a variety of safe, affordable and enjoyable educational and recreational programs and activities that enhance the qualiuty of life in Lake Copunty now and for the generation to follow.

Description

Lake Metroparks belongs to the citizens of Lake County for their sound and responsible use and enjoyment. Lake Metroparks acquired land to improve and protect it by promoting the prudent use of natural resouces against waste and depletion. Acting as the public land stewards , Lake Metroparks strives to preserve,maintain,and create a diversity of ecosystems throughtout the parks. Lake Metroparks is committed to contributing to the quality of life for the citizens of Lake County. This contribution makes the cities of Lake County and surrounding rural and urban areas a healthier place to live. Lake Metroparks seeks to provide recreational opportunities which are most compatible with the environment and promote conservation of resources.
