Mystic Aquarium seeks enthusiastic and dynamic people of ages 15-99 to join our team. We are looking for volunteers to help with our docent program, guest services, marine mammal rescue program and animal husbandry.

  • Docents are the voice of the aquarium, educating our guests on natural history, environmental conservation, our resident animal species, ocean exploration, our research programs and safety. Docents are thoroughly trained on marine life, animal behavior and ocean exploration. Upon completion of the training, docents guide visitors through animal exhibits (indoor & outdoor), educating our guests about these amazing animals and the conservation work needed to protect them.
  • Our Animal Rescue Program (Marine Mammal Rescue) provides rehabilitation to stranded marine mammals and sea turtles. Volunteers assist with field response, animal care and public education.
  • Animal care or husbandry team members assist trainers with food prep, cleaning and exhibit maintenance and coverage.

In addition to working toward a great cause and making new friends, volunteers enjoy numerous benefits, including discounts in the Aquarium Store and Penguins Caf, free admission and staff rates on programs. For more information or to apply, go to and click "Volunteer".
