International Cancer Advocacy Network ("ICAN") is a tax-exempt charitable organization based in Phoenix, AZ. We are dedicated to helping late-stage cancer patients with cutting-edge advocacy, direct patient navigation, and information services and empowerment tools. Our Patient Program Services staff is continuously reviewing and analyzing literature for a broad range of cancers and their molecular subtypes. By volunteering with us, you will be making a difference in the qualitative edge of our Program Services--which is what ICAN is known for!

We are in great need of individuals who can research and collect citations for us for certain assigned cancers and give us the citation in correct bibliographic form.

This position is perfect for the following individuals:

1) Pre-Med and college students (This position is an excellent opportunity for science majors considering going into medicine.)

2) Doctoral and post-doctoral students

3) Those currently in any medical field

4) Retired nurses; physicians; surgical, medical, and radiation oncologists; interventional radiologists

We have straightforward instructions that will make your volunteer experience as valuable and as enjoyable as possible.

All we ask is that you have an interest in the subject matter or are at least willing to develop an interest and promise to do your best to be responsive to our emails. If you commit to those two things, we know you'll have a great experience with us and will be encouraging your friends and colleagues to participate as ICAN volunteers as well!

This is a VIRTUAL INTERNSHIP, which can be done from your computer and emailed to us in an attached Microsoft Word-compatible file.

PLEASE NOTE: All of ICAN’s volunteer positions can be turned into formal internships with credit received (just coordinate with your existing academic institution or employer) or can be completed for community service hours certification (with courts, schools, and so forth).
