Animal Husbandry Volunteer (Fish & Herpetology)

Volunteers assist Aquarists in caring for and cleaning for the fish, reptiles and invertebrates. They may do animal observations or help with a program. Must be able to work outside in all conditions.

Assist in the preparation of diets and feed as directed.

• Assist in the maintenance and disinfection of the Food Preparation Area and walk-in freezer.

• Observe animal behavior and report unusual/abnormal behavior to supervisor.

• Assist with changing and washing of filters.

• Participate in siphoning tanks as directed.

• Contribute to the maintenance and cleanliness of the wet area.

• Adhere to all governmental/AZA policies regarding acquisition, husbandry, records, and animal health.

• Perform related duties as assigned

• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe work practices to supervisor and / or Human Resources.

• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.

• Provide exceptional guest service.
