Volunteers assist Aquarists in caring for and cleaning for the fish, reptiles and invertebrates. They may do animal observations or help with a program. Must be able to work outside in all conditions.
Assist in the preparation of diets and feed as directed.
Assist in the maintenance and disinfection of the Food Preparation Area and walk-in freezer.
Observe animal behavior and report unusual/abnormal behavior to supervisor.
Assist with changing and washing of filters.
Participate in siphoning tanks as directed.
Contribute to the maintenance and cleanliness of the wet area.
Adhere to all governmental/AZA policies regarding acquisition, husbandry, records, and animal health.
Perform related duties as assigned
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe work practices to supervisor and / or Human Resources.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
Provide exceptional guest service.

Description
The Aquarium is designed to be an interpretive center focusing on the plants and animals native to the Gulf of Mexico. The visitor is taken on an undersea journey that begins at the shore and continues deeper into the waters of the Gulf.
