Helpline volunteers are friendly and compassionate volunteers who share information with others about Alzheimer's Disease and services offered by the Alzheimer's Association. On a typical "shift," volunteers may do any and all of the following: place outgoing calls to families and professionals seeking information/ Assist families with additional information, referrals and support / Initiate follow-up contact with families as needed / Document family information and referrals in computer database / Provide a listening ear when people are frustrated or confused. Training and support is provided for volunteers to feel comfortable taking calls and sharing information.

Our Mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Description
We are the primary community resource for Alzheimers disease and related disorders through family services, education, public policy and research. We serve 96 counties in Illinois and Missouri, Skilled volunteers join professional staff to participate at every level of service from office support to public speaking to leadership and more. The associations success and growth are due to the dedication nearly 1,000 volunteers, including students and interns.
