InvestWrite Student Essay Judge

A turnkey, skills-based volunteer experience with direct impact on the next generation for you and your colleagues! One of the easiest ways to support financial education from the comfort of your home or office, completely online, and credited with 2.5 hours of community service.

Through the acclaimed Stock Market Game (SMG) program, a program of the SIFMA Foundation, schools and after-school programs grades 4 - 12 learn about investing through a virtual, state-of-the-art capital markets simulation. InvestWrite is the innovative writing competition that complements SMG and integrates critical thinking and language arts components to reinforce the financial decision-making skills that students learn in the classroom.

At the end of the fall and spring semesters, thousands of students reflect on their SMG learnings by completing a written essay in response to a grade level appropriate, finance-related question prompt. These essays are graded by a volunteer corps of financial professionals like you! You receive 5 - 6 essays of the same grade level, the question prompt, and a rubric to help you grade and rank. Each essay is seen by four volunteer judges. As you can imagine, we need as many judges as we can secure! Last year, more than 5,000 industry professionals participated.

The volunteer registration deadline for Fall 20 is December 4, with judging to occur January 5 - 7, 2021. Timing and deadlines are not yet assigned for Spring 21.
