ECWR

Volunteer to serve on a marketing, event planning or fundraising committee to plan and execute various events. Typical events include Off-site Education Events, Skimmer Bird 5k, Pub Crawls, various festivals and education/outreach events. Large Campaigns include Building Fund/Capital Campaign/Animal Ambassador Habitats/ Rehabilitation Habitats. Fundraising is critical to produce much-needed monies to support refuge operations and provide publicity. Aspects of these events may include marketing, advertising, solicitation of sponsors, donations, and gifts, recruitment of event volunteers, and more. Many of these duties can be completed from home (ie., update online calendars, make phone calls to ask for donation items)

Mission Statement

Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge"s (ECWR) mission is education, conservation & rehabilitation for the welfare of Florida’s natural fauna. Run by caring staff & dedicated volunteers, ECWR is a 501(c)3 non-profit with headquarters located on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, FL. ECWR provides wildlife rescue, rehab & environmental outreach to 5 counties in Northwest Florida. The Refuge rescues thousands of animals a year working closely with local law enforcement, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission and the US Fish & Wildlife Service to protect, treat & release native species. The Refuge also is the lead response team for the Federal Marine Mammal Stranding Network assisting with all marine-mammal strandings from mid-Walton County to the Alabama state line.

Description

As a leader in conservation education for the Emerald Coast, we also offer educational programs for interested members of the community. The Refuge also partners with public and private schools to educate our youth on the importance of conserving our native species. As we head into the future, ECWR will continue to pursue the highest level of medical care, environmental education, & conservation efforts.

  • Must be at least 16

  • Must have MS Office or equivalent skills. Event planners should have prior experience with scheduling and working with multiple outside vendors.
