Dance-a-thon Benefiting the Chad Foundation for Athletes and Artists, seeking Volunteer Event Planners, young 20's Volunteers and College Interns Welcome
The Chad Foundation is seeking Volunteer Event Planners who will help conceptualize, organize and bring to fruition an annual benefit dance-a-thon. This is a great opportunity for younger volunteers in their 20's to get involved in a project that will be fun, energetic and where they can have input on venue selection and the evening's program. It is also a great opportunity for college interns, majoring in the nonprofit field to get hands on experience in all aspects of Event Planning. Potential dates we are looking at are Holiday 2009 or in February 2010, National Heart Month.
Proceeds from this event will benefit The Chad Foundation Heart Screening Program and Theatre and Book projects. To date, The Chad Foundation has provided 5,000 "Free Echocardiogram Heart Screenings" to students and athletes in 5 states and abroad in Austria and Sweden, respectively 16 and 26 countries participating the "1 st and 2 nd Homeless Streetsoccer World Cups," and The Chad Players have performed 12 Off Off Broadway productions for communities, high school students and the disenfranchised. The mission of The Chad Foundation mission is dual: one, to raise the awareness of Sudden Cardiac Death in Young Athletes and Students through educational lectures, videos, scientific research and preventive measures, such as providing "Cardiovascular Screenings to High Schools, Colleges, Athletic Orgs. and the Disenfranchised," which also identify early cardio risk factors. Secondarily, our mission as artists is to create/produce/sponsor art - film, theatre, books that celebrate American stories of all heritages and provide inspiring role models. Chad is dedicated to showing the inherent diversity of our country - the struggles, joys and dreams of all Americans and providing a format for artists of all heritages to showcase their talents.
Chad died of Sudden Cardiac Death while playing football at the young age of 26 yrs. old. Chad loved sports and the arts. He never drank alcohol, smoked cigarettes, or drugs but loved all people of all ages and heritage. He also loved to dance... and this would be a great annual event to honour his spirit and raise monies for the Chad programs - "The Gift of Heart and Art - Healthy Body Mind and Spirit."
