San Diego County Library offers a 'Service Learner' program for youth ages 12-17. Service Learning is different from volunteerism in that it is a teaching and learning approach that integrates community service with academic study to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. A minimum of 6 hours of service is required.
Teens are needed to help with library programs, sort and shelve books, assist with preparing materials for children's craft activities, and more. We also welcome teens who are interested in developing and leading their own library programs for kids.
Current opportunities are for Spring 2018 school semester.

Description
Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
