PROGRAM: The Safety of Seniors Handyman Program LOCATION: Various addresses across the Denver Metro area. SUPERVISOR: Wayne Chitwood, Program Coordinator PHONE: 303-297-0408 EMAIL: wchitwood@voacolorado.org PURPOSE: Provide minor home repairs and safety modifications for limited-income seniors in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties. RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete a home safety assessment and supply an educational packet to each new client served, when a repair is being done. Establish and maintain contact with assigned clients to arrange for prompt, courteous and effective service of repairs and modifications Develop and gain skills to perform minor repairs Use established charge account and procedures to purchase necessary materials Maintain and promptly submit appropriate paperwork for each assignment BENEFITS: The opportunity to use your skills to assist seniors in the community to remain safe and independent in their homes for as long as possible Flexible Schedule! Make your own appointments with clients as assigned. A minimum of one client per month is preferred. A chance to visit with a senior that may not have anyone else in their life

The Safety of Seniors Handyman Program seeks to improve the quality of life for senior citizens by providing assessment, repair, and referral services that extend the period of time during which seniors can remain safe and independent in their homes.

Description

The Safety of Seniors Handyman Program provides services to seniors, age 60 and older, residing in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties. The program's goal is to keep all seniors living safely and independently for as long as practicable.
