Join our crew of volunteers as we rebuild the historic WW+F Railway.
The WW&F has two track extension weekends every year, in spring and in the fall. The spring work weekend is the weekend of the last Saturday in April, and encompasses Friday through Sunday. The fall work weekend is the Friday through Monday ending in Columbus Day, in October.
The typical pattern is track is laid in the Fall (ties, rail, and spiking the two together), and the new track is ballasted and put into service the following Spring. For Fall 2018 we will constructing several thousand feet of track down the scenic "Mountain Extension". Other projects will be available.
Work usually begins early in the morning, between 7 and 8 AM, although people arrive at all times throughout the day. The Museum supplies its volunteers with lunch and supper on these days. The work ends between 5 and 6 PM.
For 2018, the fall work weekend will be October 5 - 8.
