The WW&F has two track extension weekends every year, in spring and in the fall. The spring work weekend is the weekend of the last Saturday in April, and encompasses Friday through Sunday. The fall work weekend is the Friday through Monday ending in Columbus Day, in October.
HOWEVER, for 2021, we are breaking this pattern and instead having a series of targeted track laying sessions on the following Saturdays: 10/9, 10/30, 11/13, & 11/20.
The typical pattern is track is laid in the Fall (ties, rail, and spiking the two together), and the new track is ballasted and put into service the following Spring. For Fall 2021 we will constructing a passing siding at the end of the scenic "Mountain Extension". Other projects will be available.
Work usually begins early in the morning, between 7 and 8 AM, although people arrive at all times throughout the day. The Museum supplies its volunteers with lunch and supper on these days. The work ends between 5 and 6 PM.
For 2021, the fall work weekend will be spread over a series of Saturdays: 10/9, 10/30, 11/13, & 11/20.

Mission Statement
The Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum, Inc., is a nonprofit organization established in 1989 to acquire, preserve, and restore the operation of narrow gauge railroads and equipment which operated in the Sheepscot Valley and on other roads and to establish a Museum for the display of artifacts for enlightenment and education of the general public concerning the social and economic impact of railroads on the communities served.
Description
The WW&F Railway Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, dedicated to the display and preservation of the two-foot gauge Wiscasset, Waterville, and Farmington Railway; and its predecessor roads, the WW&F Railroad and the Wiscasset and Quebec Railroad. To that end, we attempt to replicate history as best we can, through the use of steam locomotives, hand signals, and the methods used by people on the original railroad, as much as possible. We are entirely volunteer-run.
Volunteers are a critical part of our operation. It is the volunteers that work on our projects, that meet and greet our visitors, and that operate our trains. We have no paid staff.
We encourage new volunteers to come and find a place with us. Because of the variety of things we do, and the potential dangers of working around railroad equipment, we require that new volunteers only do work at the railroad when there are longer-term volunteers around, at least for the first couple of months, so that we can "show you the ropes".
To volunteer, just show up. All ages, abilities, and interests are welcome.
