The William Temple House Thrift Store seeks individual volunteers and energetic volunteer groups of 2 to 6 individuals for volunteering at our store in NW Portland. Volunteers are needed to sort donations, set-up store displays, price merchandise, unload and process customer donations, and assist customers. The William Temple House Thrift Store offers the community quality merchandise including furniture, clothing, jewelry, books, art and more. All profits from the store support the mental health counseling, social services and pastoral services offered at William Temple House.
The ideal candidate has exceptional people-skills, is able to work on varied projects concurrently, possesses good problem solving skills, and is able to maintain a positive attitude while working alone or with a diverse group of people.
Plus, all volunteers who work 10 hours or more a month receive store discount!
- Able to lift minimum 25 lbs and work on feet for entire shift. This is a physical job.
- Be on time and work all scheduled shifts.
- Make a 3 month volunteer commitment.
We currently have need for 'Specialty Volunteers' - volunteers that have a great deal of knowledge about a particular category of items, to volunteer on a regular or on-call basis (some areas may require a monthly commitment, but most categories would only be once or twice per year). Some of the areas that we need Specialty Volunteers for are:
- Musical Instruments
- Sports cards and memorabilia
- Antique Furniture
- Antique Tools
- Collectible Dolls
- Antique Toys
