The Midland Foster Grandparent Program is now looking for men and women ages 55 and over with limited income to help mentor children in schools.

Many opportunities for the person who wants to give back to the community, helping children learn to read, nurturing one-on-one relationships for at-risk, and/or exceptional needs students.

No experience necessary....just a loving, caring heart and a desire to help children succeed.

Volunteers can earn a modest stipend, plus mileage reimbursement and meals at the school.

Training and social events are conducted on regular basis.

As a Foster Grandparent, you're a role model, a mentor, and a friend, AND you can make a little extra money$$$$. Serving at one of thousands of local organizations- including faith-based groups, Head Start Centers, schools, and other youth facilities-you help children learn to read, provide one-on-one tutoring and guide children at a critical time in their lives.... Put simply, you give the kind of comfort and love that sets a child on the path toward a successful future.

Description

Midland Foster Grandparents serve up to 40 hours per week. Volunteers who qualify earn a a tax-free stipend and mileage reimbursement.

With Foster Grandparents, you'll receive pre-service orientation, training from the organization where you will serve, and supplemental accident and liability insurance while of duty.

And remember: When you volunteer, you're not just helping others--you're helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Plus, studies have shown that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
