An Amedisys Hospice Volunteer is a special part of the Hospice team. They are people that wish to make a difference in the lives of the terminally ill or those who are grieving by giving their time to assist a patient, family member, or the office staff.
There two types of volunteer opportunities available:
- Direct Care Volunteers - these are volunteers, ages 16 and older, who provide direct support to a patient or a family member through activities such as sitting with a patient to provide relief to a caregiver, running errands for a patient or family member, being a griend to the patient or a caregiver, helping those who are grieving, praying with a patient, reading, singing, or offering other services to assist with emotional or spiritual support.
- Clerical/Administrative Volunteers - These are volunteers, ages 12 and older, who assist in the office and provide support through clerical activities.
* No specific hourly requirement. Must pass criminal background check if patient interaction. Must complete volunteer training.
