Volunteering at a local daycare center

Do you enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of a pre-school aged child? Would you like to help prepare these children for success when they enter elementary school? Activities will include helping children discover the joy of reading through storytelling; using flash cards, and other materials to help children identify letters, words, numbers, shapes and colors; providing guidance as the children put puzzles together, finger paint and a variety of other fun-filled activities. Assist in molding young minds. Help 4 & 5 year olds learn the skills they need to be ready for school. They also need hugs and encouragement to succeed. You can make a positive impact on the children in your community! We have opportunities available at Head Start, pre-schools and daycare centers.

Benefits Foster Grandparents Receive:

  • Non-taxable stipend from $159-$487 per month depending on the number of hours you volunteer. The stipend doesn't affect your social security, subsidized housing, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, etc.
  • Paid orientation and training
  • Free daily meal at site (when available)
  • Transportation assistance
  • Supplemental insurance while on duty
  • Paid time off including holidays, vacation and sick leave
