Would you like to live on in the memory of a child? Here is the opportunity to do so. Help a child improve his/her reading skills in one of the many elementary schools in Broward County. STARS(Seniors and Teachers Achieve Reading Success) is a project of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program that engages seniors to assist students to improve their reading skills. These students are in Title 1 schools and are in grades 1 - 3. Surveys have revealed that the students who have volunteers work with them at least twice per week for 30-45 minutes improve their reading level by as much as 1.5 grade point at the end of grade 3.

We are now also accepting volunteers in our local Broward County Middle Schools to help students with their math, reading and language arts(writing) skills.

Training is provided. Background checks are mandatory.
