The MARC Department of Aging and Adult Services hosts the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program for Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte, and Ray counties in Missouri. The program recruits resident advocates who may visit with one nursing home resident, a few residents or all of the residents living in a licensed long-term care facility. Depending on the role the volunteer wishes to take, some volunteers may simply visit and provide a social contact for the resident. Others may choose to actively advocate for residents who are experiencing concerns related to their quality of life or quality of care.
If you do not wish to visit long-term care facilities, we invite you to visit with us about other ways to support this program and the special population it serves.
