The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) invites all interested parties to join a Committees working to help us protect and restore the Mystic River Watershed. Currently, MyRWA Committees include: Clean Water Campaign and Policy.

This free meeting is open to the public. Meeting are typically held the first Tuesday of the month at Tufts University, Lincoln Filene Center, Rabb Room - be sure to check the calendar first! (calendar of events: http://mysticriver.org/myrwa-calendar-of-events/)

The Policy Committee is charged with providing support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on policy matters. The Policy Committee also tracks and responds to federal, state, and local projects and initiatives to protect MyRWA interests throughout the watershed. Chair: Lori Kennedy

The Clean Water Campaign Committee brings together scientific knowledge and outreach skills to raise awareness of water quality issues in the Mystic River Watershed. The Committee develops and implements campaign strategies and tactics, and works with the media, community groups and elected officials to see improved water quality throughout the watershed. Commitment includes a couple of hours on a weekday evening and enthusiasm for a healthy watershed!

Mission Statement

The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) was founded in 1972 to protect and restore natural resources in the 22-community watershed. MyRWA accomplishes this work through the efforts of professional staff and thousands of volunteers working together on a project-by-project basis.

MyRWA mission is to protect and restore the Mystic River, its tributaries and watershed lands for the benefit of present and future generations and to celebrate the value, importance and great beauty of these natural resources.

Description

The Mystic River Watershed encompasses 76 square miles, half a million inhabitants, and 22 communities, in whole or in part. It extends from the headwaters of the Aberjona River in suburban Reading to the heavily urban/industrial communities bordering Boston Harbor.

Communities in the watershed include the following: Arlington, Melrose, Belmont, Reading, Revere, Charlestown, E. Boston, Somerville, Burlington, Stoneham, Cambridge, Wakefield, Chelsea, Watertown, Everett, Wilmington, Lexington, Winchester, Malden, Winthrop, Medford, and Woburn.
