The Friendly Visitor Program provides friendship and companionship to homebound and socially isolated Older and disabled Adults. Each friendship is unique and Volunteers become an important link to the outside world. The program is also designed to provide caregivers with a brief break, while also providing companionship and compassionate support. Because of the development of this special friendship, it is necessary to have volunteers who are full time residents to ensure continuity of service for the client.
Volunteers meet with their new Friend, weekly for approximately 1-3 hours, at a mutually convenient time. Visits can be centered on a shared hobby or interest. It can also include chatting, reading and playing games etc... Volunteers are also able to accompany their new Friend to a social outing (i.e. a walk, visit a park, visit a mall etc....).

Senior Friendship Centers, Inc., is a non-profit, non-sectarian charitable corporation servicing the vital needs of older persons, addressing the concerns of loneliness, health and isolation for the elderly. With it's motto of "People Helping People" the agency relies strongly on volunteer effort to supplement the work of paid staff. Founded by Brother William Geenen in Sarasota, Florida on September 1, 1973, Senior Friendship Centers Inc., offers the elderly dignity, independence and peace of mind. The continuum of care allows individuals to be involved in helping others while receiving needed support. Senior Friendship Centers, Inc., serves people regardless or race, creed or economic status.
