About

Our Emergency Food Helpline is the first line of defense against hunger. Our trained operators connect people in immediate need of food to one of our nearby network pantries or soup kitchens, where they’ll be able to get a bag of groceries or perhaps a hot meal. One in five Alameda County residents depends on the Alameda County Community Food Bank.

The Emergency Food Helpline or Helpline is a referral program that helps families and individuals in Alameda County locate emergency food resources in their neighborhood - near where they live, work, shop, or go to school.

Training: Minimum commitment of twice a week for one month.

Best for: Individuals, especially volunteers who are bilingual, have basic computer, customer service and telephone skills.
