A rewarding and demanding volunteer experience that asks volunteers to be on call certain nights of the month. If called, volunteers agree to go to area hospitals, or Turning Point's SANE program, to provide crisis intervention and offer resources to people who have been recently sexually assaulted.
For this position, you must take Turning Point's 44-hour CORE training, offered in May and in August each year.

Mission Statement
To provide programs and services that enable victims/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to regain control of their lives.
Description
Turning Point began in 1980 through the grassroots efforts of community volunteers who wanted to provide a supportive and safe environment for victims of domestic violence. With a 15-bed shelter and 24-hour crisis line, it was one of the first programs of its kind. Today, the agency operates from four locations: a 39-bed emergency shelter and 24-hour crisis line, a combined outreach, administrative office and second hand store, a Personal Protection Order Office, and a Sexual Assault Forensic Nurse Examiners Program.
We also offer the following services: a children’s program, non-residential advocacy, individual counseling for domestic violence and sexual assault, hospital and court advocacy, an education and prevention program, and various support groups.
