Crisis Response Assistant
Description:Volunteers will work in-tandem with staff members to answer hotline calls, give referrals to other agencies, complete forms and assist callers with a safety plan. Volunteers will respond to calls from Harris Methodist Hospital and JPS Hospital, when a domestic violence victim comes in for medical services.
*Volunteers at the Fort Worth Shelter will also be trained as a Client Advocate Assistant. See description above.
Time Commitment:Bi-monthly, 3 Hour Shifts 7:00 a.m.- 10:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday
Location: Fort Worth Shelter
Requirements: Training: New Volunteer Orientation and Crisis Intervention Training
Age: Minimum 18 years of age
Personal: Good listening skills, patient, non- judgmental, sensitive to the feelings of others, quick thinker, calm under pressure, self-starter. Excellent critical thinking skills; sensitivity to domestic violence victims; willingness to work independently, reliable and confidential

Domestic violence shelters that provide emergency housing for women and children. Case management, counseling and support groups are available for all clients. Community education and prevention programs are also an important part of the services provided.
