Companionship and Respite Volunteer
OhioHealth Hospice in Athens (formerly Appalachian Community Hospice)
Volunteers in the field have big hearts and good common sense. Field volunteers visit with hospice clients in their homes (single family residences or nursing facilities) to provide companionship and give the caregivers some respite. Volunteers chat, play card games, watch television, make a light meal. Sometimes they take clients for walks or work in their gardens or a visit can involve just reading quietly by the bedside.
