Literacy Life Coaches help learners develop stronger reading skills, improve spelling and writing, gain general knowledge and apply literacy skills to daily life. Our coaches help learners become more confident and independent in their family and working lives.
The Literacy Life Coach Position requires a minimum commitment of six months. Each learner and tutor pair meets twice a week to study for an hour and a half. Learner/tutor pairs set their own schedule for weekdays,evenings or weekends.
Training and Support
InitialTraining and support is provided by literacy staff personnel. Literacy Life Coaches are highly recommended to attend professional development trainings provided on-site or off-site.
- Literacy Life Coaches receive recognition from the library board, staff, and other volunteer leaders.
- Letters of recommendation are available upon request.
