As a tutor, you’ll empower and help adult students gain valuable English reading, writing and speaking skills and to use those skills to meet self-identified goals, such as job advancement or further academic study.

The Literacy Life Coach Position requires a minimum commitment of six months. Each learner and tutor pair meet for a 60-minute session twice a week. Learner/tutor pairs set their own schedule for weekdays,evenings or weekends.

Training and Support

InitialTraining and support is provided by literacy staff personnel. Literacy Life Coaches are highly recommended to attend professional development trainings provided on-site or off-site.

Description

The Covina Public Library engages the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. We offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
