If you can read this, you can help! Tutors work weekly with an adult learner who needs help with basic reading, writing, math, or the English language.

Volunteer tutors:

  • Work weekly one-on-one with an adult learner
  • Can read and speak English
  • Have three hours of time per week to donate
  • Want to help, are passionate, and excited!
Students are eager to learn and waiting for a volunteer. You do not need to speak Spanish or have prior teaching experience to help. Professional training and materials are provided. We will work around your schedule.

Our office is located in Glenwood Springs, but we serve all of Garfield county and will place you with a student in your town. Meeting locations vary, but will be a safe, comfortable public space.

Mission Statement

Literacy Outreach's mission is to teach essential literacy skills to adults, thereby enriching their families and our communities.

Description

Literacy Outreach is dedicated to combating adult illiteracy in Garfield County, Colorado. Our professionally trained volunteer tutors provide weekly tutoring to any adult with literacy skills below the 4th grade level. Services are provided to traditional literacy students who lack basic reading, writing and math skills and to English as a Second Language (ESL) learners who need to communicate in oral and written English. Working on an individual basis allows us to reach out to those truly in need and make positive changes in their lives and in the lives of their families.
