Become a volunteer with the Assistance League of Conejo Valley. For over 20 years we have been dedicated to making a difference in our community. Our signature program, OPERATION SCHOOL BELL, provides new school clothing for disadvantaged children. At scheduled Clothing Shopping Nights during the fall we take the kids and their parents on a shopping spree to buy new clothing essentials. This is often the very first time any of these children have new clothing. The expression on their faces tells it all. It is such a gratifying experience...both for the families and for our volunteers. Teachers report that appropriate clothing and proper school supplies bolster the child's self-esteem and improve school performance.

We have many other programs that continue throughout the year, as well as our Thrift Shop. Please email alconejovalley@gmail.com or call 805-379-5686 to leave us a message. Visit our website https://www.assistanceleague.org/conejo-valley/ to learn more.

Mission Statement

Assistance League of Conejo Valley is a nonprofit organization comprised of volunteers who identify, develop, implement and fund ongoing philanthropic programs to improve the lives of children and adults in our community.

Description

The chapter manages several philanthropic programs staffed by member volunteers.

OPERATION SCHOOL BELL: Children designated by their schools receive new school clothing at a Clothing Shopping Night. The students are able to start the school year on an equal footing with their more fortunate classmates. In addition to new school clothing, Operation School Bell offers a literacy program in area schools to help improve students' reading skills; equips third grade students with dictionaries in designated schools; and stocks 32 elementary schools with emergency clothing kits with essential clothing items for minor mishaps.

ASSAULT SURVIVOR KITS: This program helps restore dignity to assault survivors by furnishing clothing and personal care items when their clothing has been retained by the police for evidence purposes.

SHARE-A-BEAR: Provides teddy bears to local hospitals, fire, police and sheriff departments to comfort children and adults in crisis.

I’M IN CHARGE: This is a personal safety program taught to 3rd grade students by trained member volunteers.

ASSISTEENS: Auxiliary of the chapter comprised of middle and high school student volunteers.
