We want to deliver 3000 decorated shoeboxes, each filled with 12 basic personal care items, to seafarers far from home during the holidays. Volunteers are needed to 1)organize drives at their school, church, club or place of business to collect the contents for each box; 2) collect adult-sized shoe boxes from local shoe stores and paint/decorate or wrap the box and the lid separately; 3) sort the items and pack the boxes; 4) hand deliver the holiday boxes to mariners aboard their ships in Port Everglades, Florida. Volunteers can choose to do all or part of this, beginning with the item drives and box collection & decoration in June.

Description
Seafarers' House is a multi-faith mission and hospitality center for crew members of ships that visit Port Everglades as well as members of the port community. Most who visit Seafarers' House want to make low cost calls on one of the more than 85 phones available or connect via our free wi-fi service. In addition, we offer a small store, free transportation, internet access, access to multi-faith clergy and safe money transfer service. Seafarers' House is open throughout the year as a safe, friendly place where mariners can connect to their families, relax, ask questions about the community, and get emergency help if needed.
