Elementary program

Looking for a fun, fulfilling, and nurturing place to volunteer? Join us at The GreenHouse! The families, kids, volunteers, and staff at The GreenHouse create a learning environment full of life and warmth. As a volunteer, you will discover the joy of making a difference, one child at a time.

Adventure Zone, a five week summer day camp, offers elementary school children skill-building and creative workshops, recreation, crafts, educational activities, pool days, and field trips. Field trips include places such as the Crocker Art Museum, the fire station, roller skating, Sun Splash, and Discovery Museum. Adventure Zone gives our kids a fun-filled, educational summer while keeping them safe and out of trouble. Volunteers build relationships with the children while assisting them in the activities. Adventure Zone runs Monday through Wednesday 10:00-12:30, Thursday from 1:00-4:30.

The GreenHouse is a community enrichment center that offers tutoring, mentoring, leadership development, spiritual development, recreation, and enrichment activities for under-resourced youth in the Gardenland-Northgate neighborhood of Sacramento. Our mission is to cultivate a thriving community by nurturing the emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of our youth and inspiring them to grow to their full potential.

Volunteers must: complete an application, be interviewed, and be fingerprinted; attend a Training session; commit to volunteering at least one day a week for 5 weeks; be at least 16 years old.
