Are you enthusiastic about empowering young people through learning? Volunteer in Homework Center to support youth who are looking to succeed in their school work! This is a drop-in program, so volunteers get the chance to meet and help a variety of students each time they join.

What Homework Center Tutors do:

  • Work 1:1 or with small groups of students for one to two hours each week during the academic school year (committing to at least a semester)
  • Strengthen students’ academic skills by supporting them in working on homework and building literacy & math skills
  • Build positive relationships with students to support their social and emotional development
  • Work as a team with staff to maintain and safe and supportive environment

What we are looking for:

  • Enthusiasm for helping young people learn and a commitment to empower others
  • Ability to work with students from diverse cultural, academic, and socioeconomic backgrounds in a housing-based setting
  • Ability to assist with academics
  • Commitment to communicate with program staff about absences and concerns

What the supports and benefits to volunteering are:

  • Orientation and Training provided prior to program start
  • On-site guidance, encouragement and coaching from CommonBond staff
  • Relevant ongoing trainings during the academic year (minimum 2 hours per semester commitment)
  • Experience in working with diverse groups of youth and supporting their math, literacy, social and life skills
