Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan was founded in 2007... it is the first stray/shelter dog prison program in the state of Michigan. Our volunteers live across Michigan, in New York, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Connecticut - to name a few. Our volunteers also range from age 12 to 65. Everyone can volunteer with RPSM.
RPSM has many volunteer opportunities available. You can work directly with the dogs by performing temperment tests or transporting them from the animal control facilities to foster homes. Or you can serve as a foster home. Or you can help with fundraising or event coordination. We also have opportunities for those interested in writing grants. Or you can help with the prison program by coordinating the logistics, transporting dogs to & from the prison on exchange day and maintaining relations with prison staff. There are opportunities to work on the gratification committee.
Opportunities are endless with RPSM because as we grow, so can you and your volunteer experience! It is our firm belief that volunteers should be allowed to run with their ideas and creativity. IT IS THE MISSION OF REFURBISHED PETS OF SOUTHERN MICHIGAN TO HELP ABANDONED. SURRENDERED, AND HOMELESS ANIMALS. WE ARE PURPOSE DRIVEN WITH A MORAL OBLIGATION TO MAINTAIN OR RESTORE A HEALTHY QUALITY OF LIFE BY PROVIDING RESCUE AND PLACING THEM IN AN APPROVED, SUITABLE, AND SAFE FOSTER OR FOREVER HOMES BY LEGAL MEANS. ALONG WITH EDUCATING THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT RESCUE PROGRAMS, RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP, AND PET OVERPOPULATION. AFFORDING SECURITY SCREENED INMATES WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRAIN THESE DOGS. COLLECTIVELY CONSTITUTING A FORM OF REHABILITATION FOR BOTH TO REENTER SOCIETY AS A PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS WITH ENCOURAGEMENT OF BRINGING POSITIVE ATTRIBlITES TO THE LIVES OF CYfHERS. WE DO THIS AS A VEHICLE TO ENHANCE THE LIVES OF ANIMALS AND THE FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY, WHILE WORKING WITH GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES AND ANIMAL SHELTERS IN NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES AND NEIGHBORING STATES.

WE ARE PASSIONATE AND ETHICALLY COMMITTED TO SAVE AND RESTORE ANIMALS TO THEIR WELL-BEING STATE OF EXISTENCE, WHILE ENCOURAGING ADOPTION WITH HOPES
OF THE DOGS BEING SAVED WILL BRING A HEALING AND JOYFUL ATMOSPHERE TO FAMILIES HELPING TO PROMOTE A POSITIVE CHANGE. OUR VISION IS NOT TO PREDICT THE FUTURE, BUT TO HELP CREATE IT.
