Mission Statement

Acme Christian Thrift Store and Food Pantry (ACTS) was incoporated in May of 2002 as a not-for profit organization helping to fill a critica lneed among the working poor, single mothers, transient and other disadvantaged people who live in Antrim, Grand Traverse and Kalkaska Counties. Since February 2005, ACTS has been staffed, operated and managed by a team of 60-70 volunteers, including board members, with no paid staff. Our goal is to provide assistance to the poor, hungry and homeless as it is possible.

Description

ACTS operates an all volunteer food pantry to distribute food and essential items to the individuals and families in our area who come to our facility for assistance.

The ACTS Thrift Store provides a source of affordable clothing and other goods for low-income customers,while earning revenue to support the food pantry activities. ACTS helps clothe the needy by selling donated clothing at a very low cost and in some cases, where the need is extreme, we give the clothing away so that children can have winter coats and boots, single moms looking for work can have dress clothes for job interview and migrant workers can have appropriate seasonal clothing.

ACTS helps the discouraged by referring our clients to the appropriate agencies for additional help. We provide inbformation about job postings that may not reach disadvantaged people seeking work. We make every effort to address needs while treating all of our clients with kindness, compassion and respect.
