Do you love art? Do you value learning? Do you enjoy interacting with others? SMoCA's docent program may be just the thing for you. Our docents delight in sharing the energy and ideas of contemporary art, architecture and design with the public and school groups. They are the heart of SMoCA's education program. No prior experience is necessary.
Orientation sessions are scheduled May, August and September each year, but we interview throughout the year.
SMoCA provides a 28-week training course that will give prospective docents
* a good working knowledge of contemporary art and its methods
* touring techniques.
* ongoing education about new exhibitions,
* orientations by exhibition artists and curators
* connection to new friends and a community of contemporary art lovers

Description
Founded in 1999, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art [SMoCA] is the only museum in Arizona devoted to the art, architecture and design of our time. Global in its focus, the Museum is a unique and vital cultural resource for the Southwest, serving local audiences as well as visitors from throughout the United States and abroad. Designed by award-winning architect Will Bruder, SMoCA's minimalist building (an ingenious renovation of a former movie theater) has five galleries for showcasing changing exhibitions and works from the Museum's growing permanent collection.
