Animal Care Services (ACS) is striving to become "no-kill" by 2015. This will not be possible without the help of volunteers. ACS is in need of dedicated animal lovers who will assist our shelter in many ways. Some of our volunteer opportunities include dog walking/bathing, administrative, assist with off-site and on-site adoptions, greeters, vet clinic assistants, photographers, etc. Please contact us with questions you may have regarding this opportunity.
Help is especially needed in the morning and early afternoon hours during the week. We are open from 11-7 Mon-Fri, 11-5 on Saturday, and 12-4 on Sunday but we have volunteer opportunities starting as early as 8am.

Animal Care Services’ mission is to encourage responsible pet ownership by promoting and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the residents and pets of San Antonio through education, enforcement, and community partnership.
Description
Volunteers are needed to assist the shelter in our advocacy efforts and general operations. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to help us sustain our mission in several different areas, including: Education & Outreach Support, Community Resource Support, Campus Operations Support and Animal Placement Support. Whether you are interested in walking dogs, socializing with puppies, playing with cats or working with people to educate the community about the resources we provide to encourage healthy and responsible pet ownership, we have a volunteer position for you!
How to become a volunteer with ACS:
1. Complete an ACS Volunteer Application at the following link: bit/ly/ACSVOLUNTEER
2. Attend an ACS General Volunteer Orientation (will be emailed more information including orientation dates after submitting volunteer application)
3. Pass a background check (typically processed and cleared 1-2 weeks after orientation)
