Groups of up to six, fully vaccinated volunteers purchase groceries, cook on site and serve a meal + a snack to the children at the Crisis Nursery.
There are four ways you can participate:
- Sponsor - $75 - Can’t make it to the Nursery but want to make sure our kiddos have full bellies? Choose this option and we’ll take care of everything for a meal and a snack.
- Guest Chef - No payment to the Nursery. Come and cook a sponsored meal and snack for kiddos in our care. Please confirm availability of this option with Keith, Food Service and Volunteer Services Coordinator at kjohnson@crisisnursery.org or at 612-767-8483.
- Shopper - No payment to the Nursery. Your group purchases and brings your own groceries, making a recipe of your choice based on our meal grid.
- Chef - $75 - Keep it simple - we find a fun recipe and provide the food for a meal and a snack. All you need to do is arrive at the scheduled time and cook. No meal planning or shopping involved!
Volunteers must be 12 years or older and be accompanied by an adult age 21 years or older.
Time Commitment: 2 - 2.5 hours, including prep and clean-up.
Breakfast (includes morning snack prep): 7:00 am - 9:00 am (served at 8:00 am)
Lunch (includes afternoon snack prep): 11:00 am - 1:00 pm (served at noon)
Dinner (includes evening snack prep): 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm (served at 5:00 pm)

The mission of the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is to end child abuse and neglect and create strong and healthy families.
Description
The Crisis Nursery provides voluntary, parent-initiated overnight residential care for children newborn through age six. Children can stay at the Crisis Nursery for up to 72-hours while their parent/guardian(s) work to alleviate their crisis. Additional services offered include a 24-hour crisis helpline and home visiting/mental health support.
