The River Food Pantry

  • 277 people are interested

The River is the largest and busiest food pantry in Dane County, distributing groceries each week to over 700 households.

In the face of COVID-19, we are distributing boxes of groceries for curbside pickup outside of our facility. We need volunteers to help sort donations, pack boxes of groceries, and carry the boxes out to the clients. On Mondays, volunteers will be sorting and preparing for the curbside market. Tuesdays through Fridays, the market will be hosting curbside distribution, so volunteers will either be sorting, preparing boxes and carts of groceries, or loading groceries into clients' vehicles.

Volunteers are needed:

Monday
9:00am - 11:00am
11:00am - 1:00pm

Tuesday through Friday
9:45 am-11:45 am
11:30 am-1:30 pm
1:15 pm-3:00 pm

We are looking for healthy volunteers ages 16 and up.

Mission Statement

Food, resources and faith to build a stronger community.

Description

The River Food Pantry is Dane County’s busiest food pantry, offering free groceries, meals, mobile lunches and clothing to anyone who comes for help. Located in a warehouse just off Northport Drive and Packers Avenue, The River is surrounded by low-income neighborhoods and subsidized senior housing-exactly where we’re needed the most. We also provide a mobile lunch program for children and teens in low income neighborhoods surrounding the food pantry. Nutritious packed lunches are distributed in the neighborhoods on weekends and other non-school days.

More than just meals, The River provides a warm and welcoming family atmosphere where everyone is treated with respect, encouraged to find the support they need, and given the opportunity to share what they can with others.
