In need of Volunteers to provide support to our hospice patients by:
-Providing companionship to patients by playing cards, reading a book, holding a hand, watching TV together, doing puzzles or just being present
-Sitting with patients while caregivers run errands, attend appointments or take a much needed nap
-Delivering groceries to patients' homes
-Writing letters or making phone calls
-Providing support to our bereaved families
-Assisting with various office tasks

Coastal Hospice promotes dignity and quality of life for patients and families who face life-limiting conditions. Coastal Hospice, Inc. is a health care organization dedicated to preserving dignity and quality of life. We offer comprehensive hospice and palliative care on Maryland's lower Eastern Shore. In addition to providing physical care, we promote the emotional and spiritual growth of patients, enabling them to live their lives to the fullest. Our mission includes education in the care of the terminally ill and support to the bereaved. As responsible stewards we will use our resources effectively and productively, conscientiously preserving our assets. We will continually improve Coastal Hospice in order to meet our community's changing needs with the highest quality, cost effective services. We will strive to exceed requirements for licensure and accreditation, and other recognized professional standards.
Description
Coastal Hospice assists family members in caring for persons in the last phases of an incurable disease so that they might live as fully and comfortably as possible. This specialized health care is given primarily in the home. The emphasis is on control of pain and other distressful symptoms. Coastal Hospice has an in-patient facility located in Salisbury, Maryland providing respite and general in patient care. We serve Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.
Services are provided in accord with written orders by the patient's own physician. Twenty-four hour on-call RNs. Respite care and inpatient services can be coordinated.
Our professional team of caregivers can provide quality end-of-life care to patients in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties in Maryland regardless of ability to pay.
Coastal Hospice is fully licensed by the State of Maryland to provide hospice care. We are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
